He was looking to continue the tradition that has already been established in the Sandhills. He wanted a golf course that was different from the rest. This concept was to build on his legacy as a professional golf player. So he was able to come up with his own concept of wide fairways, lush courses, and dealing with putting items that will put your mind to the test to see how much you know about golf. Jack Nicklaus ended up building a golf course building within the long leaf pines of the Southern Pines area.

 

National's golf course is well-balanced and compliments the Sandhills image in regard to world-class golf amenities. Each hole is made different. The design for the golf course was very detailed. There are also tall pines, cleaned waste areas, and natural lakes which made National Golf Club to stand out. The stream beds were beautifully designed to give the golf course a unique look.
