Arnold Palmer Golf Academy

The Arnold Palmer Golf Academy is located at The Bay Hill Club and Lodge, which is in Orlando, Florida. For over 30 years, Arnold Palmer has been the proprietor of this established lodging facility, with an 18 hole golf course. This golf course is where the teaching takes place. The facility has different levels of classes for all ages to learn different golf techniques. These techniques are based on Arnold Palmer's value of the sport. The golf instructors here stress that you be unique and to acknowledge your strengths and work on your weaknesses. The instructors have a variety of golfing experience, from the PGA, Senior PGA and LPGA tours. Their passion is for you to get the most out of your golfing experience, while learning the sport.

The instructors help you set goals and set up practice routines that suit you and your level of playing. In order to get the personalized teaching you need, the student instructor ratio is set at 4 to 1. If you feel the need to learn outside of a group, you can choose individual instruction. The Arnold Palmer Golf Academy works with beginners, professional and golfers of every level. The instructors look to bring out your golfing capabilities by making it interesting to learn.

Mr. Palmer's fearless style of the sport helped him achieve a winning attitude of playing golf. That winning attitude helped him to get 92 tour victories during his golf tenure. That same attitude had dominoed into his instructors, helping you to develop your golf play.

The sessions will teach you the fundamentals of golf, including specialty shots and course strategy. After learning all the methods and strategies, you'll have to put to use what you've learned on the golf course.

There are four phases of the golf game that the academy focuses on:

  • Fundamental Mastery - you must learn the basics of the game. In order to become a good golfer, you must start at the beginning and work your way up. This first phase focuses on grip techniques, how you address the shot, one-piece takeaway, maintaining a steady head, and increasing the speed of your club head.
  • Scoring - This second phases teaches you how to make modifications for different types of golf shots. Doing this allows you to change your posture position and angle smoothly. Watch your scores improve and handicaps lowered.
  • Strategy of Your Game - This third phase helps you to distinguish a risk from a gamble. You're also taught techniques regarding club selection, placement of the golf ball, pre-shot routine and making your target.
  • Practicing on a Professional Level - Phase four teaches your how to get the most out of your practice time. This is the point where you think about how you're going to shoot the ball and practice your swings so that the technique becomes natural for you.

The Arnold Palmer Golf Academy has classes from half day sessions to 5 day sessions. They also have Learn and Play Academy sessions, Individual Instruction, and Palmer Junior Golf Academy.

In addition to the above, there is a Corporate Golf Program available for business people looking to cultivate business affairs on the golf course. The New Player Academy focuses on the new and inexperienced golfer, teaching them the rules of the game as well as proper golfing protocol. You're not required to haul any golf clubs and the sessions are conducted in the classroom and on the golf course.

After the program is over, the instructors don't leave you out to dry. They'll maintain contact with you by e-mail, phone and video training follow-ups.
